Alumna Shqipe Neziri Vela – RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) Class of 2007

Shqipe Neziri-Vela graduated from RIT KosovoTM (A.U.K) in 2007 with a major in Public Policy. Shortly after graduation, she was granted a full scholarship from the European Commission Erasmus Mundus program to pursue a double Master’s program in Public Policy and Political Science at the Central European University in Hungary and the University of York in the United Kingdom. Similarly, Ms. Neziri-Vela was awarded a full scholarship from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attend a Post-Master Research Program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Furthermore, the Washington Leadership Program through the U.S. House of Representatives, appointed Ms. Neziri-Vela to initiate the application of the Republic of Kosovo to the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a bilateral U.S. foreign aid agency established by the Congress.
Ms. Neziri-Vela has published a book focusing on Energy Policy in the Western Balkans. “Energy Policy in Western Balkans: Path to Reform and Reconstruction” is listed on Amazon in a paperback edition. Ms. Neziri-Vela is currently a PhD candidate at the South East European University (SEEU) in Macedonia, pursuing an advanced inquiry in the field of Public Policy.
Ms. Neziri-Vela is a project manager for one of the key programs of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Kosovo providing support to various anti-corruption program efforts. Her work experience includes various positions in the public and private sectors, such as Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), Ministry of Finance (MoF), USAID, OSCE, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the World Bank.
Ms. Neziri-Vela finds RIT KosovoTM (A.U.K) to be an exceptional educational initiative which provides its students with hands-on education and prepares them to get out and join the labor market. She said: “RIT KosovoTM (A.U.K) has equipped me with a unique conceptual knowledge and policy-oriented learning that are necessary for understanding and decisively intervening in current policy problems in rule-of-law and anti-corruption. This university attracts outstanding students, provides high-quality cross-disciplinary academic training in a multi-cultural environment, and as a result, graduates are able to move into leadership positions in their chosen fields. Apart from the practical value, studying at RIT KosovoTM (A.U.K) enabled me to compete and win various scholarship awards”.
