Studying at A.U.K. has been a remarkable experience for me, as from my freshmen year I was able to notice the personal and professional growth as a result of the carefully tailored curricula that foster critical thinking, excellent writing skills, and analytic approaches to the better understanding of the policy making process and economic development. Learning from accomplished scholars and practitioners we have been constantly empowered to advance the public interest by tackling the main societal issues.
Most importantly, A.U.K. reinforced my belief that hard work, strong commitment and dedication can truly lead to successful merit-based results, as in this way I was able to be part of A.U.K. Honors Society and have the opportunity to research about the role of gender in life opportunities, particularly the need for the social, economic, and political empowerment of women in Kosovo. After presenting my honors project on the topic of “Establishing a Women’s and Gender Studies Program at A.U.K.” I qualified for an internship at the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo where gender equality is ranked very high on the policy agenda as it significantly impacts the economic development of the country as well as the enhancement of democratic institutions.
But, it is only after we join the job market that the nexus of academic rigor and real-world relevance is mostly experienced because within a very short period of time, the skills obtained at A.U.K. translated in well-organized repots, quality research, effective communication and overall job integrity which ultimately helped me secure a job position within the President’s cabinet. Thus, without a doubt A.U.K. offers an unparalleled opportunity for academic and professional advancement and through the attainment of the necessary skills a two-week internship can be easily transformed in a full time job position in one of the highest and most prestigious institutions in Kosovo
